Local Green Incentives

POSTED ON JUNE 9TH, 2011 BY NICK | EDIT

[This was as of last year. Please visit http://www.dsireusa.org/ for current state and federal green incentives.]

Although some of us may have sought this new deal since its inception – late April, we would like to remind other neighbors and across states about these programs. D.C with Department of the Environment (green.dc.gov/green); Maryland with Department of Energy Administration (http://www.energy.maryland.gov) and Virginia with Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (www.dmme.virginia.gov) provide necessary information that to help with your energy savings.

This is also one of the best times to hoard up eligible tax incentives for next season. There could not be a better time than now to get inspired at these opportunities. Although it is possible the funds allocated for this program may have run out (just like cash for clunkers) , there is a good chance of an extension – especially as we begin summer. Be sure to check back for more information regarding any extensions. Below are each state’s appliance rebate:

D.C Rebate level

Clothes Washers – $100 – $125

Dish Washers – $50 – $75

Refrigerators – $50 – $75

Electric Heat Pump and Gas Boilers – $200 – $300

M.D Rebate Level

Clothes Washers – $100

Dish Washers – $50 – $75

Refrigerators – $50

Electric Heat pump – $300

V.A Rebate Level

Virginia also provides fact sheet Appliance Rebate Program Fact Sheet for their residents to be well informed. Stay current for more appliance information and other interesting eco living news.
